Tribute This

There are some nice, small theaters in my neck of the woods. These theaters have been great for attending great concerts by some great acts that might not be Taylor Swift. Some were big years ago or are minor acts today because they just play music. Tickets usually are reasonable as well.

In recent years, though, these performers are hard to find, even at these very theaters. Instead, you see actors pretending to be famous performers. They dress like famous acts, act like famous acts, and play music by these famous acts. In other words, far as I'm concerned, you get cover bands, you know, like at a bar, except playing the songs of only one band.

They call them tribute-acts. You can see some great bands being - well - faked. The Beatles? Sure, and even with a left-handed bassist. How about Cher? Or what, Neal Diamond? C'mon!  I won't go to Red Sox games 'cause of him.

I think we should have tribute racing. Think a number-43 car with a tall skinny dude walking around, headphones and mike attached to his cowboy hat. Look-alike Cale Yarboroughs and David Pearsons could be found, I'm sure. Some of them might be able to drive. They'll look good, though.

I do betcha the cars'd be cool.
